Due to Merlin's magic power, a stone with a sword inserted in it appears in the centre of the kingdom. The stone contained an epigraph which stated that the King of Britain would be the person who would manage to take the sword out of the stone. A young boy of seventeen named Arthur managed to take the sword out of the stone. At that moment the boy was only a varlet of his named brother Kay.
